Strategy management (Hoshin Kanri).
“Strategy Management” is often confused with “Management by Objectives”.
The difference lies in the implementation methodology. In one case, it is a group of persons, rather than the upper management, that “distributes” objects to each party. In the case of Strategy Management, the definition of the goals to be reached is the result of a “top down” process for the expression of needs, and a “bottom up” process for “how”, “when”, “who" and "how much of the actions which will give the expected results.
The benefits are clear: A global approach which combines the objectives of each service or department, the progressive construction of a lean organisation.
Nevertheless, we still work on the obtention of short term results rather than the creation of conditions which will show results in the future.
A three or five yearly plan is thus established, giving visibility and understanding to teams, which must be motivated to act.
